SquidSoft was formed in the Fall of 1997 to provide consulting services for web and application development. SquidSoft consists of a team of both full-time and contract developers that specialize in all areas of the computer industry, including (but not limited to) entertainment, database and information storage, and artistic design.

SquidSoft released its first independent project in late summer of 2002, called SquidCam. SquidCam is a video conferencing application, allowing real-time conversations to take place over a standard Internet connection. SquidCam was developed entirely as an in-house project, and all code was written exclusively by SquidSoft.
